Strategy Associate (JOB ID: SBC/2020/713)

As our Strategy Associate, you will address challenging strategic and operational questions with regards to scaling and growing current and prospective businesses. A successful Strategy Associate will be responsible for contributing to the company’s strategic planning process, assessing market opportunities and threats, recommending, and prioritizing actionable growth strategies and investments, and supporting capital raising processes that advance the company’s strategic objectives.
What You Will be Doing:
· Support development of business strategies, including scoping and structuring, formulating hypotheses, conducting research, performing analysis, developing actionable recommendations, and creating implementation plans
· Guide company leadership through investment decisions using robust analytical tools, incl. DCF, precedent transactions, and comparable company analysis
· Conduct ongoing assessments of industry and competitive landscape, identifying key industry and macroeconomic trends impacting the business, and associated opportunities for growth
· Aid in the reviewing and drafting of legal documents (i.e., leases, amendments to existing legal documents, term sheets, etc.) to ensure alignment with high-level discussions
· Assist in all aspects of capital raising process including valuation, term sheet preparation, due diligence, negotiations
· Assist business teams with strategic planning and business case development
· Create, develop and present/pitch presentations
· Manage multiple initiatives and timelines simultaneously
· Prepare regular status updates for members of the senior management team
Who We Are Looking For:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or Economics
· 2-4 years of professional experience in finance or strategy at an Analyst or Associate level
· Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including the development of key scenarios and sensitivity analysis
· Demonstrated experience in supporting corporate decision making, preferably through business case analysis
· Demonstrated experience in financial modeling and costing/benefit analysis
· Experience and strong business acumen including financial statement analysis and project ROI
· Demonstrated high levels of initiative, innovation, and collaboration
· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
· Highly proficient in MS Office: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
· Proven experience managing multiple priorities
· Professional designation and/or relevant master’s degree considered an asset (e.g. CPA, CFA charter, or other similar designations)
